As the town grew more prosperous, standardized firearms brought in by merchants gradually replaced weapons made by traditional workshops, leaving Cod's father's gun workshop deserted. After his father sank into alcoholism and never recovered, his mother chose to leave, while young Cod stayed behind to protect something he could not even name. Since his father had long been unable to care for him, Mayor Claud took on the responsibility of raising Cod and gave him whatever education he could. These experiences made Cod gentle and steady, and also more considerate than others his age, unwilling to trouble anyone.
Through his father's notes, he saw a person completely different from the one in his memories: a young gunsmith with astonishing talent and pure passion. As his studies deepened, he felt joy at his own growth, but also a growing fear. His design ideas were becoming more and more like his father's.
